FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

•  Do you clean the equipment in between rentals?

Yes. All equipment is sanitized and safety checked before each rental. We use cleaning solutions and procedures recommended by many Health Departments for licensed day care facilities in disinfecting children's equipment and toys.

•  How do you keep track of manufacturer recalls on children's equipment?

All baby rental equipment has been purchased new by Baby Travels Equipment Rental. All items that come with a manufacturer registration card are completed and mailed in so we may be notified of any recalls. We also receive automated e-mail updates from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for any new recalls of infant or child products.

•  Do you offer discounted rates if renting baby equipment for more than one child?

Yes! When renting equipment for more than one child, a 20% discount applies to rental of same type of equipment for an additional child (i.e., 2nd crib, 2nd car seat, etc.). This discount does not apply to commercial rentals.

•  Do you offer discounted rates for long-term rentals?

Yes. We provide additional discounts off the regularly monthly rate for baby equipment and breastpump rentals of more than 3 months. Please call or e-mail us to inquire about rates based on your specific needs.

•  Is it safe to use a rental breastpump?

It is safe to use a hospital grade Rental pump, such as Medela's Lactina Select. There is evidence that bacteria and certain viruses may be transmittable through breastmilk. However, these pumps are designed for multiple users, and have special barriers and filters to prohibit milk from entering the pump motor, which prevent cross-contamination. In addition, each renter uses her own personal set of breastshields, containers and tubing, to ensure the safe use of these pumps.

•  Is it safe to use a previously owned personal use breastpump?

Personal use pumps, such as the Medela Pump In Style® have an internal diaphragm that cannot be removed, replaced, or fully sterilized. Therefore, the risk of cross-contamination associated with re-using a previously owned pump such as the Pump In Style cannot be dismissed, even when using a new kit or tubing. For this reason, it is not advisable to use a previously owned, personal use breastpump. We sell personal use pumps, but do not rent them.
